Sustainability

Our commitment to ecofriendly and sustainability is unmatched. We undertook hundreds of hours of research prior to launching to ensure that our brand sets the standard when it comes to preserving the environment.

Sustainability and eco friendly are phrases thrown around by every swimwear brand these days. Let us take you through our steps which sets us apart from everyone else.

Our Fabric

Did you know that the majority of cheaper brands use Econly fabrics in their swimsuits? No thanks! Our research showed that Repreve® is a far superior fabric in every department. Especially when it comes to being eco friendly.

Repreve ® is a US based company that is the world's leading manufacturer of recycled performance fibre. Every single thread of Repreve fabric can be traced back to its source of origin. Making Repreve the only certifiable and traceable eco performance polyester in the whole world!

That’s right, you can actually verify every single one of our products back to its recycled material origin. Impressive right? We're not done!

Repreve is used by major brands such as Patagonia, Nike and Beyond Yoga and is widely  recognised as the leading sustainable fabric manufacturer in the world.

Compared to other fabric manufacturers, we discovered that Reprieve was noticeably more softer on the skin. Giving you that luxurious feel every time you wear one of our bikinis.

Our Printing Techniques

We’ve yet to see a swimwear brand discuss their printing techniques in terms of ecofriendly, here’s why:

Did you know that the majority of brands use dye sublimation printing? Basically heat pressing coloured dyes onto fabric to create their prints. Did you know that during dye printing process for swimwear a huge amounts of waste product is created?

The heat and compression on the fabric, produces tiny fractures in the threads, which creates microplastics as a waste product. This harmful waste then eventually leads to our oceans and destroys marine biology. What’s sad is that most brands are completely unaware of this fact.

All of our prints are digitally printed onto the fabric using water based inks. This results in little to no fractures in the thread and as result microplastics are eliminated from our production process. It’s a more expensive process overall, but we think it’s worth it!

Packaging

Now lets talk about packaging. So your favourite swimwear brand has told you their fabrics are sustainably sourced from recycled material, but then send you a plastic pouch or some cheap fabric draw string bag as gift. The plastic pouch is a pretty obvious point that we won’t go into.

However, you might ask, what is the issue with the natural fibre bag? The carbon produced to make each drawstring bag from “sustainable/natural fabrics” is off the scale! Our research showed that when making and shipping these bags the carbon footprint for each bag is often greater than the actual swimwear itself.

Here’s a list of some of the processes when making and shipping the branded carry bags:

  • Fibres are extracted from natural materials
  • The natural materials such as hemp etc are then replanted
  • The fibres are processed in factory to make fabric
  • The fabric is then treated to make it safe
  • The fabric is then sent to another factory to made into bags
  • The bags will then be sent to your brand
The brand will then send the bag to you as free gift claiming how eco-friendly they are. How ironic!

We’ve done away with the cheap branded bags and pouches like what other brands may send you. Let’s be honest, do you ever use those free gift pouches or bags? We would venture a guess and say probably not.

You will receive your bikini packed in a completely biodegradable, unbranded sleve and that’s it. So now we have contributed to the preservation of the environment, together.

Summary

We actually care for the environment and our oceans. What good is a bikini if you cant go rock it on a pristine beach and swim in our beautiful oceans.
